Staying Connected to God this Summer

Summer vacation offers a wonderful opportunity to deepen our relationship with God, whether at home or traveling. Here are a few helpful tips to help you stay connected to God this summer.

  1. The serene beauty of nature can remind us of God’s creation, encouraging us to “look at the flowers, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these” (Luke 12:27). EMBRACE this time to pray outdoors, marveling at the splendor of God’s handiwork.
  2. While on vacation, seek out local Orthodox churches to attend Divine Liturgy. Staying connected to the Eucharist and the community of believers grounds us in faith, even in unfamiliar settings. If no church is nearby, set aside time for daily prayers and scripture reading. Saint Paisios wisely said, “A man who has within him a spirit of devotion can pray and recall his mind easily, no matter where he may be.”
  3. Engage in acts of charity and kindness. Volunteer at local shelters or support community initiatives. These acts of love manifest Christ’s presence in our lives.
  4. At home, create a dedicated prayer space. Spend time with family, reading lives of saints or spiritual books together. This nurtures a Christ-centered environment.

By integrating these practices, summer becomes a season of spiritual growth, keeping us close to Christ and His Church, wherever we may be. See you Sunday!
