Rev. Father Alex Kamilaris
Fr. Alex is the Associate Pastor of Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton. He was ordained to the Diaconate at the Diakonia Retreat Center by Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta and ordained to the Priesthood at Saint Mark by Bishop Sebastian of Zela.
Fr. Alex was born in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida with his family and lived there until 1999 when they moved to Cary, North Carolina. Fr. Alex and his family have been active participants in the Orthodox Church in each place they have lived. Growing up, Fr. Alex served in the altar, participated in a variety of G.O.Y.A. events, volunteered with outreach ministry, spent summers at Saint Stephen’s Camp and played several sports. Fr. Alex has felt a desire to help and serve others in his heart from his very youth, and explored several ways of giving to others, until he committed himself to serve others with the Lord as the means of help. Fr. Alex completed his BA in Human Development with a minor in Religious Studies from Hellenic College in 2015. This same year Fr. Alex met his dear wife, Deyana, while volunteering at a local soup kitchen.
After completing undergraduate studies, Fr. Alex pursued a Masters of Divinity at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and completed his studies in May of 2019. After a fulfilling pilgrimage abroad, Fr. Alex and his family moved to Boca Raton, where they are currently serving at Saint Mark. Fr. Alex serves on the Executive Committee of the Winter Youth Rally, serves as a Clergy for Saint Stephen’s Summer Camp, and is active in District and Metropolis youth ministries. Fr. Alex and Presbytera Deyana are filled with daily joy as they witness their children, Kalina, Dorothea & Zachariah grow closer to Christ before their eyes. The Saint Mark Church Family continues to be a great blessing in the Kamilaris’ lives.
