Saint Nicholas lived during the reign of Saint Constantine the Great, and reposed in 330. He served as the Bishop of Myra, and was known for his abundant mercy and philanthropy for the poor. He was present at the First Ecumenical Council in Nicea in 325 AD, where he proved instrumental in Orthodoxy's defeat of the Arian heresy. He is the patron saint of all travelers, and is one of the most loved and revered saints of all time.
