Our Mission

Christ called His believers "to Baptize all nations." In response to this call and out of love for our neighbors, Saint Mark is constantly looking for opportunities to bring those around us to the fullness of the life in Christ. We do this through outreach, both here locally and abroad in the form of mission trips. Our goal is simple: to bring more people into the true faith as expressed in the historic church of Orthodox Christianity. Each of us shares in this charge. This team is made up of those who are willing to answer the call by growing personally as Christians in order to reflect Christ to others. This is a true missionary effort, one that will give our Church greater visibility and to let people know what the Orthodox faith can offer.

Missions & Evangelism Team

Our Missions and Outreach team is committed to proclaiming the good news of Christ to the surrounding world. Locally, we are constantly finding ways to expose our South Florida community to the true faith in Christ. Saint Mark also participates in mission trips to various places in need. Mission trips spread the Gospel and may include providing assistance in construction, education, or physical wellness. However, it is the spirit of fellowship and philanthropy during these trips that is most rewarding!

Family Promise

Family Promise is an interfaith organization of 19 local congregations who work together to transition families experiencing homelessness to sustainable independence and financial stability. This is accomplished by providing temporary shelter, food, financial management training, family counseling, access to transportation, educational scholarship funding and a formal long-term mentoring program to ensure successful life transitions for its clients. Saint Mark is proud to partner in this battle against homelessness in our local area.

Philoptochos

The Ladies’ Philoptochos are known as the “friends of the poor.” This is our focus at Saint Mark, to aid the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the unemployed, the orphaned, the widowed, and to offer assistance to anyone who may need help through special funds. We also contribute on a national and Metropolis level, which helps people throughout the country and the world. Funds are raised through membership and fundraisers throughout the year. We are proud of the role of Saint Mark Philoptochos – that of being the right arm and charitable arm of our church.
