CHURCH HISTORY
St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church of Boca Raton was organized in 1980. In October, 1980 the first liturgy was conducted at a neighboring church. The property of First Christian Church was bought and the first liturgy there was held on March 21, 1981. A deposit was made on our present property in May 1983; our Church Community Center was built and the Thyranoixia (Opening of the doors) was performed by Bishop John of Atlanta in November, 1985. The Community Center was used for liturgical services until the new sanctuary was completed. The first service in the new sanctuary was held on Palm Sunday, April 20, 1997. We are now in the multi-year process of completing the interior of the Sanctuary with the installation of beautiful Byzantine iconography.
